Hi, I’m Marsha Scott currently doing consulting /professional development with experienced teachers that want to improve their pedagogy when teaching mathematics. I have 40+ years of experience in the classroom and various administrative positions at the district and regional level including 12 years as an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Arlington.

I love stuff – I really love teaching with math “stuff”. I believe in teaching mathematics using inquiry and hands-on activities which engages the students who then become accountable for their own learning… and it’s fun!

You know, most of the teachers that I work with know the “how” of working a problem, but with inquiry you will understand the “why” … then when they ask their students to justify their answers, the students respond with “… so that explains it”.

The inquiry philosophy allows teachers and students, to learn collaboratively from each other; you will see multiple ways of explaining a concept which in the long run benefits your students by using different modalities of learning.

Last, but not least, your teachers will experience how inquiry teaching will lay the foundation for their students to be successful in any level mathematics classes.

I am Jamie McNeill, cofounder of Inspire Math and Science.  I am first a teacher.  For 20 years it was my pleasure to teach middle and high school students in rural, suburban, and urban schools.  I then invested 10 years writing curriculum, training, and supporting teachers, serving over sixty schools in an urban district of 75,000 students.  I proudly wear the label of science nerd and find joy in opening teachers’ eyes to researched based pedagogy and adding practical and effective tools to their arsenal thus increasing their positive student impact.
